Sarah's aromatherapy page

Aromatherapy uniform

Hello my name is Sarah & for quite a few years I have been interested in Aromatherapy. I first learnt about the basics through various adult education courses at my local community centre in Crewe & I enjoyed them that much I decided to take it further

In September 1997 I went on to do a two year V.T.C.T. in Aromatherapy (N.V.Q. level III). On this course I learnt the basics of anatomy & physiology & then full body massage & aromatherapy. After passing this course I was permitted to go on to do my Stress Management Diploma (I.I.H.H.T.). I then joined the F.H.T. which is my governing body on the ethics & code of practice for our profession.

These courses were taken at Stoke on Trent College, also known as "Cauldon College" by local people. I wish to express my thanks to them in all the help & advice they gave while I was there.

Whilst keeping my job, at present, as a care assistant I have reduced my hours to start my own mobile aromatherapy business. As I have now passed all the qualifications mentioned above I can provide to clients Aromatherapy & body massage, Reflexology, Indian Head massage & Holistic Facials. These latter three skills were gained in the Stress Management course.

Lavender stalks                                                                                                                                Lanvender picking

Through me using various pure essential oils in the line of this work I have noticed that these oils do have a beneficial effect on my clients & I have got to know about their properties & effects. My own favourite essential oils are :-

      Tea Tree :-

Its properties make it bacterial, antiseptic & anti-fungal, etc..( has been used on horses for the same effects e.g. Sarcoids)

      Lavender :-

For its analgesic, sedative & anti-viral properties, etc...

Frankincense :-

For it being able to produce feeling of calm also good for coughs, etc..

There are many excellent books on the market to help you with this field of complementary therapy, so feel free to ask for any recommendations.
